About Us

When it comes to treating chronic illnesses, we’re in the middle of a paradigm shift. Functional/integrated medicine is providing relief where western medicine falls short. Practitioners are treating the root causes of illness instead of just medicating the symptoms, and patients are finding remission and cures at a rate many never thought possible. The true power of functional/integrated medicine is transforming patient lives—and we’re here to inspire even more life-changing stories!

The Root Cause Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation that aims to accelerate the health and wellness paradigm shift through documentary storytelling—because we know that nothing has the ability to connect and inspire like the power of stories. Each film celebrates the journeys of patients and their practitioners as they discover new remedies for chronic illnesses and optimize health using functional/integrated medicine. Our hope is that viewers will draw inspiration, information, and guidance through these powerful narratives of human transformation. And with it, provide new hope and vision of what’s possible in the minds and hearts of those seeking a better approach.

Join us as we inspire a whole new level of care.

Our Story
– Roland Peralta, founder

Roland is a visionary philanthropist and the pioneering force behind The Root Cause Project. In all that he does, Roland sees opportunities for new and better approaches and is driven by a sense of possibility to seek them out. It is this innovative spirit that drove him to look for better ways to overcome his own chronic illnesses—and compels him to continue to do the same for everyone else’s.

Over the course of his life, Roland has faced several severe and discomforting chronic conditions, like rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid cancer, and hair loss. Even the best available medicines offered him little relief and the treatments often resulted in uncomfortable side effects.  So, time and again, he took it upon himself to find a better answer.

Roland applied his passion for the science of functional medicine to find emerging treatments for his ailments with great success. He achieved total, drug-free remission from rheumatoid arthritis. He also revolutionized hair growth treatment by creating Nutrafol—the first 100% drug-free hair growth supplement. Being the visionary that he is, Roland saw how his functional/integrated approach could go further to transform care for many chronic illnesses. So, he founded the Root Cause Project to do just that.

Now, Roland has made it his mission to unlock the true power of transformative functional/integrated medicine for people everywhere. He dedicates himself to sharing treatment success stories to give patients and doctors the knowledge they need to find better remedies.
